You may have taken out too many styles for the sidebar and affected the sidebar searchbox width?

If you want to get rid of the lines underneath each menu entry you need to edit the colour css file, look for #sidebar li ... {border-bottom:... } and set it to zero.

Tree menu looks interesting, but does not quite work, as you loose the expanded menu when you go to the page. Seems more work is necessary on the script.

I use my own brand of expanding menu here on this site: ExpandingMenus?. One could style it with bullet pictures of various sorts I suppose.

Hans,

Your tip is gold. After uncommenting (all) the sidebar tags in layout-main.css, the treemenu looks okay.

You can see the result at http://biologie.fali.nl

Thanks

changing the sidebar width is quite simple in gemini, so I would expect you made no mistake there. But the standard sidebar menu in gemini is pretty heavily styled (see in layout-main.css), you may wish to disable most of those #sidebar attribute settings, especially for the list tags, like ul, li and li a. I don't know what kind of html treemenu produces, so would need to see an example to give any more ideas.

Hans, Nice skin use it on every pmwiki site. One question: when using treemenu in the sidebar it shows not with nice layout. I try to change the sidebar width in layout-standard.css and layout-smallheader.css, but that didn't give space for the menu. Do you have any suggestions? PS: the menu looks good when displayed in a normal page.

you mean in general, or in the commentbox script? I think I can do it for the commentbox, not sure yet about a general solution

Hans, is there a way to turn off the automatic creation of a link from author name to profiles?

This 'styling' of the comment box sure makes it look more professional and less of an afterthought.

I really like Gemini Two with the Sand colors and would like to see other similar color schemes. I have been reviewing this skin through various changes and have left my notes at http://neil.eton.ca/wiki/index.php/Guest/GeminiTwoTest Neil Herber 2005-01-21

Also noted using WINXP SP2 IE6 @ 1028x768 on page http://www.flutesong.net/testwiki/Main/SetStyle?setcolor=lavender the table (100% width) is rendered well down the page, below the right hand bar. That leaves a wide open space between the text and table region. However, using Firefox 1.0 table appears correct rendered directly beneath text.

The clean line of the edit mode page is excellent.

Problems with displaying 100%wide tables in IE have been fixed with release3. But IE drops a wide table to a position below the rightbar, whereas Firefox reduces the width of the table to show it alongside he rightbar. this is just a difference in handling text flow. I added a button so the rightbar can be switched off easily if it feels in the way. ~Hans

I am currently trying to change the size of the left menu bar a bit, but did not figure out so far where to do that...

Look in layout-standard.css and layout-smallheader.css, first section (main layout), at #sidebar and * html #sidebar.

Another question: Do you know how I can delete a page or an entire group in PMWiki?

In edit window, enter the word 'delete' (without ' ') and save. If there are no pages in a group, the group is gone as well. But it is easier to use your FTP program to delete a lot of pages.

As well, how can i get rid off the Group Link and the Group Name in the action window?

not sure what you mean. Do you mean the group name in the title, left of the page title? to hide it you could either hack gemini.tmpl and remove what you find between <td id='pagegroup'> and next </td>, or add in layout-standard.css and layout-smallheader.css #pagegroup { visibility:hidden; }

Another question I have is if i can use JS/scripts in the right box, or only text and some links.

No, the right bar is simply a wiki page like any other.

Hello Hans,

I do have another question. It is apparently possible to add a markup to allow some sort of HTML/Script to a page. If I would like to do so in the RightBar of your skin, where would I add the markup? Thanks, Oliver

Hi Oliver, I have no experience with this html-include extension (see pmwiki cookbook), but if it suits you, you could enable it for a specifc page like Main.RightBar using page customisation: create a script-file Main.RightBar.php in the local directory and add the script which calls the html-extension recipe there. ~Hans

Hi,

I have installed your skin and really like what I see. I am running PmWiki beta36. I desire to have the RightBar visible during editing to prompt users with Category lists, etc. But not visible during normal navigation. Is this possible? I have tried commenting the SetTmplDisplay('PageRightFmt', 0); in the altforms.php for edit, but that didn't work unless the RightBar was also enabled for normal navigation. Thanks, 'KenS

Hi Ken, I am only reading your question today, 9. May, sorry! In skin.php you can disable the rightbar showing all the time with SetTmplDisplay('PageRightFmt', 0);, actually this is the default setting. In altforms.php you need to edit ca. line 50, after if ($action='edit') , to SetTmplDisplay('PageRightFmt', 1);, and you would need to edit in layout-main.css near the bottom, ca line 184, to #wikiedit textarea { ....; width:80%; } (reduce the edit box from 99% to 80%, in order to make space for the rightbar to show beside it.). That should do it I think. ~Hans

Hi, Your Skin has a very good functionality. Thank you for your answer regarding the SideBar - highlight problem (PMWiki). I use the same CSS File as you but on my WEB-Test Server it doesn’t work. The highlight work only in the PageHeader. On your test-wiki the functions works very well. I can see in your HTML code the statement a.selflink { font-weight:bold }; this code is missing in my page. Where can I define?

In skin.php there is a redefinition of the a selflink class, in order for the extendedmarkup script not to mess up the sidebar styling. You could add a.selflink {font-weight:bold} there to the $HTMLStylesFmt[] variable, or do the same in config.php. Or you could add the style definition to one or all font-...css files, since it is really a question of font definition. You may want to use #sidebar a.selflink {...} rather than a.selflink {...}, so the effect is only on the sidebar. ~Hans

Greetings Hans! I too love your template. The default color scheme is perfect for my taste! Everything seems to be working fine except for one thing. When i try to implment the RightBar on any page but the Main one It messes up the little icon. Please refer to my page here: Lethann's Wiki

I'm not really sure how to make the graphic show up correctly and I'm sorta still kinda new to Wikis. I don't know if this is a default thing with PMWiki or not. ~ Lethann

The image is used in the link, instead of text, so one can clck on it. In order that it shows in all groups it need to written either with a complete url address to the image file, or as Attach:Group/image.gif. I looked at your site and took th elibery to edit it there, so it reads nowfor the link: [[{$Name}?rb=0| Attach:Main/gemini-redbt.gif"Close Rightbar"]], as you have uploaded the image as gemini-redbt.gif into the Main group. ~Hans

Wow.. thanks a lot! Not a lot of authors are that kind. ^_^ It's wonderful when someone is willing and able to write things so that even us newbies can understand it. ~ Lethann
